Lisboa: My favorite places
Lisbon is one of those places that surprise you with its food, its places and its lovely people. I want to visit Portugal again!
If you are planning a trip to Lisbon these are the places you should visit:
1.- Praça do comércio.
This is the main square of Lisboa. Which surprises me the most is that it is surrounded by the Tajo river in one of its sides.
2.- Castelo de Sao Jorge.
Even though the visit to the castle is not free, I think is worthy.
3.- El Chiado y Bairro Alto.
In order to arrive to Bairro Alto from La Baixa you can use several methods, but my favorite is the elevator of Santa Justa. It was opened in 1902 and it is 45 meters high.
El Chiado and Bairro Alto will show you a different Lisbon, more bohemian and alternative. And its views are amazing.
3.- Estufa fria
It is a massive botanic garden. Each time I go to Lisbon I visit it. Plan one morning to spend hours between plants from all over the world.

4.- Torre de Belem
It's difficult to believe that such a nice construction was made for military purposes.
It's a pity but I don't have a good pic of it.
5.- Pont 25 de Abril
A 2 km long suspension bridge opened in 1966. It deserves to be here because I lost a concert of The kooks because I was stuck in a traffic jam in that bridge. I will always remember it.
6.- Mosterio dos Jeronimos.
A good representation of Gothic architecture in Portugal. It is recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
7.- Praça Marques de Pombal
After walking avenida de la Liberdade you will find huge square with a Marques de Pombal sculpture. You can visit it the same day you go to Estufa Fria.
8.- Cabo da Roca
You will need a car to reach here, but to put a tick in "I have been in the most western part of the European continent" deserves the effort. Be ready to really windy conditions!!
