Strawberries with chocolate
Such an amazing weekend. Every weekend in London is an adventure.
Saturday had started without any sign of amusement. The same breakfast as everyday, the same taste of the tea and more or less the same news at BBC. The world is static, it remains unchanged. The wind is blowing. No outdoors plans possible.
I have been here for more than one month and I haven't gone to the British Museum yet. Actually, I got lost once and I reach the main door of it, but it was late and my plan was already settled (no British Museum ahead). The building is atonishing, and the queue to enter is not as long as I tought. My plan was to spend no more than two hours there, it was almost noon and I wanted to have lunch at a proper time. However, it was impossible. Even though you want to go out because you are more hungry than you have ever been and you feel you are going to faint, to leave without seeing the assyrian rooms or the Egypt ones is impossible. The mummies let me speachless. The rosetta stone! Just infront of me. Amazing! I still do not agree with the fact of bringing to UK all those historic treasures. I would prefer to see them where they belong. Anyway, this is another museum I must visit again before leaving.
As the entrance is free, the rooms are crowded. Let me recomend you to wake up early and go as it opens (10am).
If finally you make it to London, you should try one of my favourites restaurants: Pho. I discovered this vietnamite restaurant by chance. It is cheap, the food is really good. The only thing is that you should be sure you are hungry enough to eat a salad with chopsticks.
I spent the afternoon thinking about the world history. Drinking coffee, shopping and planning my next visit to the museum.
My way of discovering a city can could seem weird, but I cannot understand a place if I don`t try the local food. I love eating. And the oldest restaurant of London was waiting for me. To book a table wasn`t an easy task. If you are comming for a weekend, book in advance.
The place was overloaded. The tables are too close and you can feel the weight of the years in the carpet and walls. However, the place is nice, cosy and confortable. Maybe it just meets the idea you have of a place like that. The food... I don`t know if I can describe it properly. The meat was good, the taste was balance and the quality exceptional. But the chips... It's impossible to find an adjective to describe the best chips I ever tried. I want to go again just to eat chips. More and more chips. I'm dreaming with them. The two glasses of wine helped to make the night awsome and to overpriced the bill. Of course we ordered dessert. Apple crumble. Indescriptible. You have to go and try by yourself.
If you are asking about the title of this post. Where are the strawberries with chocolate in all this story??? I'm sorry but I think this is something I'm going to keep for myself.
