W+7 Regent's park and Oxford St
Today it was suppose to be a relaxing day. When I woke up (a little bit later than usual) I felt exhausted. As if I had been fighting against my pillow the whole night. Defeated.
After one hour of breakfast I decided to walk around by my own and visit Regent's Park. Even though you don't realize, it is a real brave decision, because after one week here I still do not understand how they cross the streets... dont' laugh. It's not an easy task. Some of them are easy because there is a traffic light "regulating" the traffic. But no one waits until it turns green. And imagine you are the only one who waits... the green light will last less time than the needed to cross.. so run!
The second easiest way to cross the streets are those where there are a message telling you where to look, so you can face the death in advance. Rememeber that in this country the traffic is the other way around. If no one honks the horn while you are crossing during one day of walking, you must play the lottery.
The third and worst of all of them are those without any signal/message/something to guide you where you just have to look, so look right, look left, look forward, pray and cross, and if possible run and remember the happy moments of your life. (Yeah...I exaggerate a little bit :P )
Anyway, I put on my sneakers in case I need to run.
My trip started at St Mary Magdalene's Church which is nice outside and inside.
Next stop: Regent's Park. It is one of the Queen's Parks. It is huge. Full of squirrels, crows and people working out.
If you go there and you don't really love dogs, be careful, because it's allowed to free them and let them run and play around. At the park there is a Zoo which I didn't visit because I still don't see the point of depriving animals from freedom. However, the Park has things to enjoy such as an open theatre and a rose's park.
If there is something that I have already learned from London is that at the same day the weather can vary from chilly to shower moments and sunny spells all within the same hour. Piece of advice: bring a huge bag to carry on everything: sun glasses, umbrella and scarf.
One hour walking around the Park was more than enough for today and Baker st was so close I couldn't bear to say no to go there and walk along til Oxford st.
The buildings are so nice and tasteful. Although, in my opinion, and let me remark the word MY, London losses its charming when it's sunny. The mist and grey clouds give to the city an enchanting and mysterious atmosphere that disapears with the sun.
Almost two hours and a half have gone by when I reached one of the ZARA's store. ZARA is a spanish brand. I know. You should be thinking - you should be fed up of ZARA's stores- but I felt the need of taking a look. The fashion here is cool!! I found dresses I fell in love with instantly. Some of the clothes were the same in Madrid, but there are a lot which is different.
Fashion in London deserves its own post, meanwhile I can tell you that the rule mainly says; you can wear whatever you want, whenever you want it doesn't matter if it suits or not. Which honestly, is amazing.
I love this city.
