W+6 - Turisim part 1: London's malls
First day of pure turism. Which means I'm completely dead. London is awesome but is too big as well.
If you know me you should know I'm not a girl who loves shopping, but today my walk around London includes two big and famous mall centers. Even though you don't like shopping or you are against consumism I do belive and strongly recommend to visit them.
Harrods: I don't think it needs any introduction or explanation. It's just amazing. I was open-mouthed all the time. Trust me, I have been in quite a lot cities and countries and I cannot understand why I felt like a child in a Christmas store. It was crowded with people and items, all the luxurious things you can imagine were surrounding us. Even the stairs were incredible. you just have to pass a door and the ancient Egypt is there ready to transport you from one floor to another, just extravagant, eccentric and astonishing. Even though it's mid september you can already find Christmas stuff. As a piece of advice let me tell you that you should think twice what are you going to buy there. If you have time I recomend you to visit the Gourmet's department - teas, sweets, cakes and all kind of delicatesen surround you-.
To have lunch: Today we tried a restaurant's chain called "pizza express" the restaurants are spread all over the city and it's good value for the money. In addition, in the London's map it's used to show a 20%off discount (and they apply it) https://www.pizzaexpress.com/dean-street?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Places&utm_campaign=dean-street
In order not to feel to bad for only visit malls, we decided to go to "Victoria and Albert Museum". The entrance is free but almost all the temporary exhibitions have an extra charge. The museum shows how the british plundered all they could and brought it back home to show it in a museum, which is cool if you don't want to travel all over the world but which is a pity. To be fair with them I should say they also have an enormous/huge/why so much?? exhibition of British stuff. To be honest, the museum is good, it has a good garden to relax and drink a tea. Just go, it's free. https://www.vam.ac.uk/
Our last stop for today was: Fortnum & Mason: for someone who has never been there, we can say that it is a posh and expensive mall center that it's worthwhile to visit. It was set up in 1707. At the beginning of the visit I was overwhelmed because of the different teas, biscuits and chocolates. If you hyperventilate I'm sure you will have an overdose of sugar. My recomendation for the second floor is NOT TO BRING KIDS THERE. Just a cup costs 95 pounds, and they aren't protected against children or clumsy people.
If you want to know more about them just click here https://www.fortnumandmason.com/information/our-history#
At six thirty I was exhausted.I thought I weren't be able to make it into my place. At least I have bought all the possible teas in Tesco and Sainsbury's and a hot cup of tea was waiting for me at home.
Tomorrow more... or not... I can't take a step any more.
